Environment Conservation Project

Under the Environmental Service Project, our society is committed to protecting and improving the natural environment of Bhopal, a city known for its lakes, greenery, and cultural heritage. We believe that a clean and green environment is essential not just for physical health but also for the overall well-being of the community. Our work focuses on practical actions like tree plantation, preparation and distribution of seed balls, and public awareness campaigns about reducing polythene use and preserving vegetation.

One of our most impactful activities is tree plantation. We organize plantation drives across various parts of Bhopal, targeting areas that need greenery the most. From the scenic shores of Upper Lake (Bhojtal) and Van Vihar National Park surroundings to urban locations like MP Nagar, Kolar Road, and industrial areas such as Govindpura, we plant saplings of native and environment-friendly species. These drives are conducted in collaboration with local residents, schoolchildren, and volunteers, making it a community celebration rather than a formal event. The idea is to encourage people to take ownership of the saplings and care for them as they grow.

To make tree plantation more sustainable, we also prepare seed balls. Seed balls are small balls made of soil, compost, and seeds of native trees, carefully prepared by our volunteers and members. The seeds are chosen based on the local climate and soil conditions to ensure better survival rates. This method not only reduces the cost and effort of traditional plantation but also allows planting in hard-to-reach areas, such as slopes near Kerwa Dam, hilly patches around Bairagarh, or open land along the outskirts of Bhopal. Seed balls can be easily thrown into these areas during the monsoon season, allowing nature to take its course. By involving schoolchildren and youth groups in the seed ball preparation process, we also make them aware of the importance of biodiversity and forest restoration.

Another vital part of our environmental work is raising awareness about the harmful effects of polythene. In Bhopal’s busy markets like Chowk Bazaar, New Market, and Bittan Market, we conduct campaigns to educate vendors and shoppers about how polythene bags damage the soil, clog drains, harm wildlife, and ultimately affect human health. We encourage people to switch to eco-friendly alternatives such as cloth or jute bags. Through interactive street plays, poster exhibitions, and discussions, we help the public understand the long-term consequences of plastic waste and how they can personally contribute to change.

Our awareness campaigns also highlight the dangers of destroying vegetation, whether by indiscriminate cutting of trees, burning dry leaves, or converting green areas into construction sites. We work with housing societies, shop owners, and community groups to promote green belts and gardens, aiming to keep areas like Shahpura Lake surroundings and Piplani residential zones green and healthy.

The ultimate goal of our Environmental Service Project is to create polythene-free green zones in and around Bhopal. By combining practical initiatives like plantation and seed ball distribution with continuous education and public participation, we are building a movement where every citizen plays a role. We envision a city where lush green spaces, clean lakes, and fresh air are not a luxury but a shared responsibility and a way of life.
